Rocco Nacino is San Pedro Calungsod, Ang Batang Martin | JM De Guzman Pulls Out Himself for Health Reasons

Kapamilya actor JM de Guzman will be replaced by Kapuso actor Rocco Nacino in the title role of Metro Manila Film Festival 2013 movie entry "Pedro Calungsod Batang Martir".

Days after JM's dad Roniel de Guzman announced the withdrawal of his son in the project due to serious health reasons,  writer-director Francis Villacorta revealed that after considering several actors like Coco Martin, Dominic Roco, Paulo Avelino, Alden Richards, Kristoffer Martin, and Enchong Dee as possible replacement, they chose Rocco based on his physical traits.

"Pinoy looks, tama lang ang height, can act, and nakatulong din sa weight ng decision yung pag-portray niya ng Pedro Calungsod in television last year." Villacorta said.

An official entry to the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, “San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir” tells the life story Pedro Calungsod, the mission assistant who hails from the Visayas, and now the second Filipino saint who was martyred in the name of the Christian faith.
